Sailing and Such

Here are some pictures of the rudder and tiller...I sanded layer after layer of old paint off the rudder, and I got a suprise!

Under years of old paint was a name carved in the rudder...I found out that the name of the boat shown on the rudder was the name of a West Wight Potter with a different hull number, so not original to the boat I bought...How it came to be on the boat I bought, no one seems to know...or at least no one I have been able to contact yet knows...Maybe bought at a swap meet or something?

It doesn't take that good of a picture, and the "bottom Paint" needs to be applied, but It also had about 20 years of old paint build up...Here's what it use to look like...

And Now...

You can also see the tiller in the "before" picture above...here it is after much sanding, varnish, and a little fancy rope work...

(In the back ground is my Hard Dinghy ( for my big boat not my WWP19)...It's a "HumBug" and I have the full sail rig for it...

I figure that by sanding, repairing, varnishing and the like, I saved about 450 dollars over the cost to replace the rudder and tiller with "New" stuff...Plus, it has way more character!!

Grab rail..on top as they were...below, after sanding...
